Are you aware of the Critical Importance of Marking and Labeling your Multi-Dose Vials?

Beyond Use Date Label

The Beyond-Use Date (BUD) refers to the date after which an opened multi-dose vial should not be used.

Multi-dose vials typically contain an antimicrobial preservative to help prevent the growth of bacteria. Thus, if used after 28 days (BUD), it risks the effectiveness.

A multi-dose vial BUD should never exceed the manufacturer’s expiration date on the vial.

Never risk using an opened multi-dose vial that is not properly labeled (the BUD: 28 days after the vial has been accessed/punctured).

Proper labeling of a multi-dose vial includes dating the vial with the last date the product should be used and discarded within 28 days. The best practice would be to include the initials of the staff who opened the vial so others could refer back to them if any questions were to arise.
